Monsters, Inc. Sequel In the Works?

Pixar Animation Stuidos has been known for sticking to their guns by avoiding unnecessary sequels to great films. The only film I can think of and believe that it’s the onbly film from Pixar that has a sequel is Toy Story 2, and that wasn’t bad. Remember Wonder-Con last year? When Brad Bird mention that Pixar Studios wouldn’t possibly think of making sequels for great animated films? No? Here’s a recap…
“At Pixar, the bottom line is the story that you’re telling. And Pixar does not look at sequels as a financial plan. We feel we have a relation ship with the audience and that they believe in each movie we put out. We believe completely in every movie we put out. If I can come up with a story that is as good or better than that first film, then I’d love to return to that world, but it would have to be story first.”
Well, last week at Comic-Con, MTV caught up with Pete Docter, who wrote and directed Monsters, Inc., at Comic-Con and asked him about the potential for a sequel.
“We’ve thought about it,” “Monsters, Inc.” director Pete Doctor told MTV. “We’ve got a couple ideas.”
It’s a fumy world we live in – since then, Pixar officially announced that Cars 2 is in the works for in 2012, and to no surprise Toy Story 3 is also in the works for 2010. I’m not bitching about Pixar breaking their words, but I sure hope they keep the sequels smooth. Please don’t be like most of Hollywood and make sequels for the money. I much rather send them 12 bucks if they are in it for the extra cash. Let’s just hope they keep the sequels as great has The Dark Knight.
